Dance fees are based on a yearly rate, but we offer a monthly payment option for your convenience. Therefore some months may have more classes per month than others.
You can view your account balance online anytime by signing in to our Family Portal. If at any time you would like a printed statement of your account you may request one. CLICK HERE to log into your account
All payments are due on the first of each calendar month. We have a grace period of 15 days. If a payment has not been made by the 16th of each month, a 5% late fee charge will be added to your account.
Our students are in our database alphabetically by their last name. Many of our students have different last names from parents and/or grandparents who are paying for dance expenses. In order for us to properly credit your account, the following details will be important for us to know each time you make a payment. **Student(s) First & Last Name and what the payment is for.
Costume payments are due by December 15th. For your convenience, you are welcome to split up your costume payments from September through to December. Costumes are $80 for Recreational classes and $160 for competitive (All including HST). Each year costumes are ordered or custom made for our dancers. Measurements are taken by our staff in the new year and each measurement is compared to a size chart set forth by the various costume companies. Costumes are a set price at TDA, unless otherwise stated. Shoes and tights are not included in the Costume fee.
Ticket Sale Day occurs at the beginning of May for the sale of our Year End Recital Tickets. Accounts must be up to date in order to purchase tickets on this day. We provide a live feed backstage for all dancers to view the show, but if they wish to watch from the auditorium, a ticket must be purchased for them. We pride ourselves on a top quality, professional and smooth show, and this creates a seamless event that eliminates dancers being late for their routines, and distracting movement in the auditorium during a performance.
We will schedule group pictures in dance costumes to be taken by a 3rd party professional photographer near recital. Please participate in the group pictures even if you do not intend to buy. Individual pictures are also taken for those who are interested. All costs for pictures are through the photographer directly. Any concerns about pictures or their cost should be discussed with the photographer at an appropriate time. Each student and his or her legal guardians releases the rights to all photography, web and or video (including television coverage) that may be taken at Thrive Dance Academy during class, and/or at performances or competitions for use of advertising and promotion.
Our dress code consists of dance attire, yoga pants or shorts, tank tops, body suit and tights, or anything lightweight and moveable. Jeans or non-stretch clothing is not permitted. Competitive Ballet Dancers must wear a black bodysuit, tights, and canvas Ballet Shoes.
All students are encouraged not to leave the room once class has begun. Please allow for appropriate washroom use prior to class. Very young children will be treated sensitively as the need arises. Preschool children may need a parent’s attention from time to time for various reasons including bathroom or behaviour issues. Please do not leave the waiting room when very young children are in class without informing the office or having another parent responsible during your absence. We make every effort to have all children feel safe and cared for in a loving and inspiring learning environment.
Students are not to be socializing in a disruptive manner during the class with other students. Please come early or stay late to enjoy friends in the waiting/change room. Please honour your teacher and fellow students by giving full attention and co-operation. You will be advised if we feel any student is not well adjusted to the classroom environment for any reason over time.
During class if a student complains of being ill, or sustains an injury and cannot participate, the instructor will send them to the front desk were the parents will be notified, if not on the premises.
Only students with a pre-existing sickness/injury are allowed to observe class. The parents must notify the office if a student is to observe class. We encourage dancers to come to class and observe as long as they are not contagious, so they won't fall behind.
No one is allowed to sit and watch during regular class time. Please respect this policy.
In order to take full advantage of the instruction offered, regular attendance is necessary. There are no refunds for missed lessons. Be certain to notify the studio if there is to be an extended series of absences. Irregular attendance impedes the progress of the child and their class because instructors must go back and re-teach what the other dancers learned the week before.
Students should be quiet and courteous at all times. Students should be prompt for class, and should treat the teacher with respect. No running. Hanging on the ballet barres is prohibited. Stay off and away from studio equipment unless directed to do so. Gossip, foul language, bullying or violence is strictly prohibited at Thrive Dance Academy. Any student or parent found in violation will be asked to leave the studio.
Home practice plays a vital role in class advancement. Nothing can be accomplished just by thinking about it. Each student must take the responsibility to learn techniques properly and thoroughly by: attending classes regularly, allowing time for personal practice; and practicing faithfully and sincerely.
We feel it is important to watch your child grow and develop, that is why there is a closed circuit video feed in the dance room and you are welcome to relax in our waiting room and watch your child’s class. We have a visitor’s week once a year for dancers to invite a family member into class to observe their progress. We also periodically invite parents into the rooms near the end of class to view certain accomplishments throughout the year.
Patience and understanding are essential. No child wishes to be inferior to the rest of the class and all children learn at a different rate. Please, do not berate your child in front of others. There is a certain strain on all of us when parents are observing, and at times children just try too hard.
If you have any cause for complaint about a child or teacher, please do not barge in during class time, or discuss it before your child or another child or parent. Please, ask for a time for a private interview, and you will receive full attention, respect and gratitude. Call the Studio at (289) 674-8000.
All students must remain inside the studio while waiting to be picked up after a lesson.
E-mail reminders are sent frequently to all dance families who provided Thrive Dance Academy with an e-mail address. The notices are simply reminders of information you should already have from newsletters. If you receive an e-mail, and are unsure about what it pertains to, please call the studio for more information. If you signed up for notices and have not received any, or you would like to start receiving them, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or let our office staff know.
There is parking available at the studio. Please do not litter, help to keep the grounds clean.
Be careful not to leave your belongings at the Studio. The Studio is locked at the end of the day and will not be opened until the next evening for classes. Check the lost and found box regularly. It is a good idea to put your child’s name on all of their dance belongings. Thrive Dance Academy is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please leave all valuables at home. Any items left over in the lost and found, will be donated to charity every 3 months.
Please do not use negative or defamatory statements about our Dance Studio, Teachers, Students or Staff on Social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr etc. Depending on the severity, failure to comply to this rule could lead anywhere from mediation with the owner to expulsion.
CANCELLATIONS: Please check our website www.thrivedanceacademy.ca or call the studio 289-674-8000 after 2:30pm and the answering machine will have a recorded message that will announce studio closings in case of inclement weather. We also post it on our website, and on Facebook and Instagram. We will hold classes except under exceptionally dangerous driving conditions. Use your own discretion regarding attendance if the driving is difficult from your area.
If TDA cancels a class due to weather, it may or may not be made up, depending on studio availability. If you are unable to attend the scheduled make-up date, students will be responsible for arranging their own make-up classes at a time that is convenient for them. No credit will be given for missed classes; however, students are always welcome to take make-up classes for any missed class
Dance class is educational and fun, however, an important part of class work is developing an attitude of discipline and respect for teachers and fellow students. We trust that following our classroom etiquette will provide an environment whereby classes at TDA will be a pleasure for all involved.
